ANDREW QUIENT

Andrew Quient earned his degree in architecture at the Syracuse University School of Architecture, and his master's in art education at Queens College of the City University of New York. He learned his craft as a potter through apprenticeship and formal training.

His architecture background strongly influences his ceramic work.

Mr. Quient taught for many years at colleges in New York, and in his own pottery school. He lives in Shelburne Falls, a village in western Massachusetts known as a hub for the arts. The studio is open by appointment. His work can also be seen at Cycle Pottery in Florence, Massachusetts, and at Jonathan Hallam, in Hudson, New York.

The artist is also an architectural renderer, working in ink, pencil and watercolor. In the United States he focuses on the many Beaux-Arts era examples in rural New England, direct descendants of Palladio's concepts.
